Matthew Bridger

I would like to introduce myself to you as one of the Victoria Ward candidates alongside Jeremy Adby in the forthcoming local council election. I have been a local resident of Ashford for the last 18 years. I am extremely passionate about representing the interests of everyone and to give you a voice at Ashford Borough Council.
I work in the heart of Ashford and you may see me about in the town Monday to Friday so if you would like to meet with me, or discuss any issues you may have please contact me and I will be more than happy to meet and have a coffee with you.
Over the years I have focused on bringing positive change to help young people and to create community cohesion in the local community. I have worked with a number of disadvantaged young people over the years who have issues at home, been in trouble with the law, come from disadvantaged areas and I have worked with them to build their confidence, self-esteem and have helped them move into employment, education, training, volunteering or an apprenticeship.
Whenever there is a need to help someone in the community I always get involved, you may know of the homeless campaign I ran in December 2018 where a number of residents and local businesses donated a number of items such as food, clothing and shoeboxes filled with essentials for the homeless during the winter period.
I am also a big supporter of Mental Health Support and Mindfulness within Schools, Youth Organisations to allow young people to have a toolkit for life to manage their stress, anxiety and depression.
I am ambitious for Ashford and with your support; I will work to help ensure your concerns are represented at council, back new job opportunities, back investment in the borough for everyone, campaign for a better bus service, campaign for cheaper car parking and ensure our community thrives for many years to come.
I look forward to meeting you while canvassing in the ward in the coming weeks. I hope you can vote for change in Victoria so you can have someone who will represent your best interests and who will listen to you. In the meantime, do contact me with any concerns.
